Dennis is a retired MBA/business executive who has been a lifelong enthusiast and student of photography. From the home made darkroom of his youth, through the New York Institute of Photography courses and others, to today's digital darkroom tools, he has found that when you have a passion for something you never stop learning.
Dennis 
learned early on that as a "painter of light" one must master not only the skills and techniques required to properly capture a compelling image in the camera, one must also master the post-processing skills, that bring the image to life. Since the lens simply cannot capture what the human eye can see, it is in the post-processing that one can re-create what the brain and eye perceived at the time the image was captured.
In the past this was accomplished in the darkroom, where the light in the image was dodged and burned, the image was cropped and more. Ansel Adams said, "Dodging and burning are steps to take care of mistakes God made in establishing tonal relationships." Today that darkroom consists of digital tools that not only replicate the old darkroom as far as manipulating the light, today's tools are capable of far more -- enabling the photographer to become a "digital artist."
In his pursuit of learning and understanding these modern post-processing tools, Dennis went back to school after retirement and earned certification in the Adobe Graphic Design Series and also Web Applications. Today Dennis is a qualified professional not only in photography, but also in web site design and development, graphic design, and post-processing digital tools, including Adobe Photoshop (the new darkroom), Corel Painter, and several others.
Dennis is an avid member of the National Association of Photoshop Professionals. His fine art photography and digital art are displayed at Images Art Gallery in the Crossroads section of Kansas City.
Today Dennis is having fun learning, learning, learning.........it is a never ending process.
